Actually, the Himalayas are rich in minerals, but harvesting them is restricted to the more accessible areas. The richest concentration of minerals is located in the Kashmir region. There are sapphires in the Zaskar Mountains and alluvial gold is found in the bed of the Indus River. Baltistan has copper ore; Ladakh has borax and sulfur deposits. There are also extensive deposits of coal, mica, gypsum, and graphite and ores of iron, copper, lead, and zinc in Nepal, Bhutan, and Sikkim, as well as copper ore in Baltistan and the Vale of Kashmir. Coal deposits are also found in the Jammu Hills and bauxite is found in Kashmir.

They are all poor agriculture countries with lots of mineral resources(likes gold and dimonds-which is the hardest substances known to man-)with popular tourist sites that includes national parks and tourist sites for Mount. Kilimanjaro. The reason they are still poor is because both do not have the technology and the money to pay for harvesting all of the natural resources!

What contributed to the founding of Greek colonies throughout the Mediterranean world between 750 BC and 550 BC?

Primarily the poor resources of mainland Greece (fair mineral, poor agriculture). Also the somewhat population boom of that time. The competition of greek metropolis (mother-cities) for the limited resources resulted to the creation of colonies in richer lands (Asia minor, south Italy etc).
