For Jews, this is not true. Shabbat starts Friday at sundown and ends Saturday at sundown as specified in the Torah.
For Christians, it is not called the sabbath day. For them, it was always on Sunday.

The Sabbath was observed by both Jew and Christian when the Christians came on the scene. Not until pagan worship was inter mixed with the Christian beliefs was the idea of Sunday worship introduced. that was fortified by Constantine. God never intended there to be Sunday worship, he instructed us to remember the seventh day as the Sabbath of the living God. Belief that the Sabbath is on Sunday hasn't even been in existence for 2000 years yet! The Sabbath is still on the seventh day, Saturday, and God expects us to keep it!

actually not every Christianity change Saturday to Sunday. some of Christianity still keep Saturday as sabbath because bible never say to change from Saturday to Sunday. Keeping Sabbath day is for honor God, the Creator. But Pagan from the beginning still worship Sun God.

As more Gentiles entered the faith and Christianity was no longer regarded as a Jewish sect or cult, Christian leaders decided to change the Christian Sabbath to the first day of the week, Sunday, in honor of Christ's Resurrection, which had occurred on a Sunday.

∙ 12y agoMany Christians believe that the seventh day sabbath as per the 4th commandment was abolished at the cross, and that the disciples changed their day of "corporate worship" to the first day of the week (Sunday). But this is error, because Christ Jesus did abolish any of the ten commandments. The only law that He abolished on the cross was the ceremonial, sacrificial laws in the "Book of the Law".
Also, there is no mention whatsoever in the New Testament concerning any change to the sabbath day. In fact, the seventh day sabbath is STILL called "the sabbath day" in the New Testament, and the first day of the week (Sunday) gets no special mention at all. So for Christians to say that the disciples changed the sabbath is pure fiction.
The truth is, the sabbath day was NEVER changed. God set apart the seventh day of the week to be the sabbath day at creation, and it still remains today the seventh day (Saturday).

Historically, the better question is why the Christians began worshiping on Sundays. As pious Jews, the first Christians would have worshiped with Jesus on Saturday as was the Jewish custom. However, two major reasons led to Christians abandoning Saturday to worship on Sunday. First, Jesus was resurrected, according to Christian tradition, on a Sunday, making that day the most sacred day. Additionally, the Christian Church wanted to differentiate itself from Judaism and by praying on a different day, it helped to solidify the divide.
