Mainly, because The Bible says its Words are ALIVE:

"For the Word of God IS LIVING and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." (Heb.4:12 NIV)

Words are "spirit." And spirit is eternal. You can't see them... unless they are written down... but you can also "speak and hear" them. They enter into the mind and heart and live there.

"The [Holy] Spirit gives Life; the flesh counts for nothing. The Words I have spoken to you ARE SPIRIT and they are LIFE." (John 6:63 NIV)

"Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have Eternal Life: and they are they which testify of Me. And ye will not come to Me, that ye might have Life." (John 5:39-40)

God's Word is able to awaken a man's spirit to the hope of Eternal Life... God's "gift" to man.

Man's choice is only to "believe" them... or not. But God's Eternal Word Lives on, regardless of a man's decision.

"If you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me. But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?" (John 5:46-47 NIV)
