A Clockwork Orange was banned because Violence, Rape, political justice and of course because of the language used. In Britain on March 1972 a 14year old boy was accused of manslaughter and the reason for this manslaughter was supposedly because he had either read of saw the film. After this A Clockwork Orange was definitely banned.
Apparently there were "copycat" attacks in the UK after the film was released. Though whether this means Clockwork Orange "caused" violent attacks is highly debatable. However, I believe this was one of the main reasons that Stanley Kubrick had it (his own film) banned shortly after it's release.
