It's kind of like people have a big party when they reach a landmark birthday, or a landmark wedding anniversary, only this is even bigger because it's the queen, and the party involves the whole country.

∙ 11y agoThe 2012 Diamond Jubilee celebrates Queen Elizabeth II's 60 year anniversary of her ascendance to the throne. It is important to celebrate it as The Monarchy is one of the symbols of our country, just look at our Money and Stamps that bear her head.
Financially, such an event can stimulate a lot of public spending, and therefore generate a nice revenue for the government. And i believe you meant to type 'our' instead of 'are'?
