If you have to change it every time you start the computer than it is most likely a driver issue. Make sure you have the most recent drivers.
It is useful for college students in dorms, because they are a lot lighter than desktop computers and can be carried around. Also, some students are allowed to being their laptops to class and type their notes instead of hand writing them.
laptops have a better proccessor that helps in games but notebooks helps when travelling and I am not sure that you can change the processor of a notebook
