Why is the fuel filter for a 2002 Saturn SL1 so expensive?

usually Saturn fuel filters come with a length of plastic line attached to them with the quick release fittings, not sure on the 2002 models. another reason is factory replacement guide says not to replace it for 100K miles, which makes production less, which makes price go up. also with a 100K mile filtering capability, they may be expensive to make
