Which indicator light is it? If it's the oil pressure light, you need to find out if the oil pressure is down and if so, take care of the problem soon. If it's alternator, you should take it in to an auto parts retailer and have them run a quick, free diagnostic test. If it's the "door ajar" indicator, you probably have a bad switch.
