Its called the Golden Rule.
For decades prior to the rise of Augustus, the Roman Republic had a number of civil wars, internal strife and political instability. The rule of Augustus promised at least some political stability and as he was also the legal son of Julius Caesar and the fact that J. Caesar was deified, Augustus was also an important religious figure as the 'son of a god.'
a gold rule
The golden age of Rome isassociatedwith Augustus Caesar, Rome'sfirstemperor, not with JuliusCaesar. Augustus won the final civil wars of the Republic and through the power he gained, he concentrated power in his hands, became an absolute ruler and created a strongcentralgovernment. Thisstarteda 200 year period of relative political stability which has been called Pax Romana (Roman Peace). Thisstabilityenabled trade in the empire to flourish, whichcreatedprosperity. Hence the termgoldenage.
Yes, Julius Caesar did rule Rome. :)
nobody said there wasn't a golden rule
the golden age
When Augustus took over sole rule, historians call this period the principate. It is mistakenly called the "empire" in popular terminology, and the ruler called "emperors". However this is actually incorrect. Rome was already an empire during the republic and the Romans never called their leader an emperor. He was always called "Caesar" along with the title "Augustus".
