take it apart and grease gear track inside.
If the shifter will not move you have a mechanical or electric issued with the shifter. If the shifter does move you may have low fluid or a failed transmission.
it most likely needs greased
Move the car. If the fan belt moves, it's still in gear. Also would be fairly hard to move if in gear.
To "Dike" is to move back suddenly.
press down hard on foot brake at the same time move shifter.
If you cannot move the shifter out of the park position then you have a problem with the shifter cable or the brake safety lock. If you can move the shifter to the drive position, and it doesnt go in gear then you are a few quarts low on transmission fluid
Between your shifter and the gearbox, there is a linkage. A connector is broken.
The shifter is held in park unless you depress the break look their for the lock out controllers
all i know is that most functions of the shifter are actuated by the brake pedal and until the brake is applied the shifter will not move
If you are sitting on any kind of slope, your transmission has tension on it, making it hard to change gears. Pull your car onto a level place then try it should be easier. If not then your transmission is messed up.
It is a small solenoid that is accutated when the brake pedal is applied allowing shifter to move. This is located at the shifter and can be heard if all is quiet shifter in park and brakes applied.
