Move the car. If the fan belt moves, it's still in gear. Also would be fairly hard to move if in gear.
The square cut-outs in the shifting rods are aligned with each other when you look down the transfer case shifting hole when assembled in neutral. If they are not, use a big flat blade to align them before replacing the shifter sheet and installing the shifter arm.
the neutral safety switch is located near the rear of the engine driver side below the throttle body and air intake hose mounted on the transmission connect to spring that is connected to the transmission hope this helps you
Pull the transmission dip stick out and read it. It will tell you what fluid to use and how to check it. With the older Chrysler automatics, they want the engine running and the transmission in neutral to get an accurate reading. ATF+4
You can measure the pH value, if the value is below 7, then it is an acid. (1 being the strongest, 7 being neutral.) There are also some indicators, phenopthalin (think that is what is it called) which will turn purple, when poured into an acid.
I also have a equinox with a key that does not work properly hard to turn difficult to get out. my dealer Tec is stubbornly maintaining it all in the tumblers. But I maintain thats it is in the electrical some where between the shifter and the key cylinder. I will also hang in stubbornly till it is fixed and then tell you what is wrong and how to fix it. Where are the GM engineers in all this

I cannot give you a detailed answer, but I can tell you the neutral safety switch is in the steering column, associated with the shifter, and is not in the transmission.
there is a small cable in the steering column by the shifter arm it is probably broken

All Daimyo are Samurai but not all samurai are Daimyo- the classical relationship would be Master and servant- yet that does not tell it all, as both parties had very specific rights and responsibilities towards each other.
