piece by pieceAnswerThe Statue of Liberty was actually a gift from France and it was originally designed and built there: Huge molds were constructed and copper was poured into them. When it cooled the statue was assembled. Once they were sure that everything was where it should be, the statue was broken down and shipped across the ocean to the U.S, where it was once again reassembled.

After a war between the Americans and the Britians, the French decided to congraduate the winner of the war. America won this war. The French wanted to give us something monumental. They looked apon the French sculptor Fredric Bartholdi, who designed and sculpted the statue. Once built, they had to take it apart to ship the statue to America. Once done, Americans rebuilt this colossal copper statue, just by putting the already formed pieces back together. And that is how the Statue of Liberty came to be. Please make a response to what I have written. I hope you found this useful.
France didn't build the statue of liberty until they got to the USA because they had to ship pieces of the statue on different boats because of the weight and size of the statue; if they had built the whole statue and put it on one boat the boat would have sunk.
