All would be exaggerating, but only a little. If we didn't have the sunshine we'd be left with heat given off by decaying radioactive elements, and a bit of deep thermal energy generated by the gravitational pull kneading the planet back & forth. All weather, and all plant matter is powered by the sun. Most energy that we use is from fossil fuels, and they were once plants and vegetation, powered by the sun back in the days.
The Sun is the primary source of all energy on Earth.
Chlorophyll is the source of all food energy on the planet earth.
