The play is hard to understand if you have the vocabulary of The Cat in the Hat. Shakespeare had and used a huge variety of words, and it helps to know what they all mean.

Of course, "dumbed-down" paraphrases with a significantly restricted vocabulary have been made to help people understand the play better, but such paraphrased versions generally have the poetic sense of a set of instructions for installing septic tanks.

And, the difficult words are far enough apart that they can unusally be guessed from context. A line like "But soft! What light from yonder window breaks? It is the east and Juliet is the sun." contains no words which are not ordinary modern usage.
