It isn't.
This myth originated from the fact that one of the calandars of the pre-columbian South American civilisations (the Maya, I believe), 'runs out' in 2012.
It doesn't actually 'run out' of course, it just gets to the end of its current run of numbers. In the same way you might say our calandar will 'run out' after 31 December 9999. Is the world going to end after that day, because we can't count any higher using 4 digits? Of course not. The year 9999 wil be followed by 10,000.
In the same way that our calandar could simply 'add' another digit, to make the next day 1 January 10,000, the Mayan calandar could likewise 'add' an order of magnitude. Except of course, no-one uses that calandar any more.
It would be interesting to know if our calendar will still be used 8000 years from now.
It's a 50 50 chance.
Perhaps because the world is going to end
It won't. Some people say that, but it's not gonna happen.
look first of all it isn't going to end because some people just want to cause peril and second they said the same exact thing for 2000 and what happened........... nothing so do you really want to let some stupid thing like this ruin your life.
No one really knows. Thats what they said in 1996,that the wold was gonna end in the 2000. It didnt. Anyways lets enjoy life while where at it. Only god knows and decides when its ending.
it will ganna be the end of the world
its not certain when but the main reason is the sun ding and that is a long way from now
i dont think so. if it was wed all be panicng by now screaming WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!!!!!!!!
they did when god made them out of the dirt to make knowledge in your brain because people can know some gods from the future know when the world is ganna end but no living substance will know.
No, the world will not end before 2012.
In April 27 he turned 16
They had good reason for predicting that. The Mayan Calender was misinterpreted by most of the world. It stated that on 12/21/12, the world would have a rebirth, which was misconceived by the public. That never happened then, which was two years ago, so I think we're safe.
