It is possible that your vehicle has a rough idle. This can be helped with tweaks to the oxygen sensor, or perhaps there are more serious underlying problems. You may want to take the vehicle to a shop if it is a clanking or knocking or other such "bad" noises. However, if there is not actually a problem and you are only hearing a loud idle, it can be explained this way. When you accelerate, the pistons in the engine are moving faster and faster in relation to each other, and thus any inconsistencies or misfiring's are more difficult to detect. In a sense if something is vibrating slowly it makes a lot of noise but a very fast vibration makes more of a hum or buzz. This thought can be used in thinking of the pistons in the engine, the pistons "vibrate" up and down much faster when accelerating and thus make more of a hum than a louder idle "grumble".
If the whistling noise is coming from under the hood its your belt, that's what's wrong with my Sequoia. If its not coming from under the hood its probably a crack in the seem of your window.
coz ur momma is in ur bonnet!
We would need to know where the noise was coming from and under what conditions it made the noise in order to make an assessment.
you have a small cat stuck under your car
The lifters are failing and need replaced to stop the noise.
Not enough info. What kind of noise? Coming from where? Under what situation(s) does it occur?
I have experienced the same problem a couple of times recently. I have no idea what this might have been, but it definitely sounded like a leaf blower and it happened twice when engine was at normal operating temperature. At first, I thought the noise was coming from outside (somebody using the blower), then, when I realized it is coming from under the hood I stopped and checked. However, I could not pinpoint the problem. Did you get this resolved and /or look at? Please share your experience.
It could just be the heat shield on the under side of the catalytic converter.
You did not define "squeaky" but if there is a shrill noise when you startup or accelerate under engine load then it could be your serpentine belts slipping. Take a look at the 3 belts and see if they are glazed (shiny). If so then it is best to replace them.
Where is the noise coming from? Under then hood, or interior?
If it is more of a noise than a power loss, then you may simply have a loose exhaust bracket or heat shield. Either of these can make a lot of noise under load. If you are experiencing a loss of power, then the problem may be that the catalytic converter is beginning to fail. If so, replace the them soon.
Its probably your air intake.... check under the hood and see if it runs to the inside of your passenger side fender.... mine does and it sounds like the noise your describing
