Yes-rats, mice and other animals use weeds for their nest and also like to chew on wiring and insulation found at electrical sites. Their damage cost more than clearing weeds.

What meters are kept on HV side in SC test?

insulation tester (Megger) can used to checked the short circuit on HV side. HI POT tester is also a means to checked the shot circuit in HV cable.

What is a difference between hv motor and lv motor?

the motor having voltage rating above 480 volt is hv motors and motor having rating below 480 volt is lv motors. generally motor above 185 kw is hv or mv motor and motor below 185 kw is lv motor.

What is the meaning of DYN 11 on a transformer nameplate?

What does Dd0, Dyn11, YNd5 etc. mean?First symbol/symbols, capital letters: HV winding connection.Second symbol/symbols, small letters: LV winding connection.Third symbol, number: Phase displacement expressed as the clock hour number.Winding connection designationsHigh Voltage Always capital lettersDelta - DStar - SInterconnected star - ZNeutral brought out - NLow voltage Always small lettersDelta - dStar - sInterconnected star - zNeutral brought out - nPhase displacementPhase rotation is always anti-clockwise. (international adopted convention)Use the hour indicator as the indicating phase displacement angle. Because there are 12 hours on a clock, and a circle consists out of 360°, each hour represents 30°.Thus 1 = 30°, 2 = 60°, 3 = 90°, 6 = 180° and 12 = 0° or 360°.The minute hand is set on 12 o'clock and replaces the line to neutral voltage (sometimes imaginary) of the HV winding. This position is always the reference point.Because rotation is anti-clockwise, 1 = 30° lagging (LV lags HV with 30°)and 11 = 330° lagging or 30° leading (LV leads HV with 30°)To summarise:Dd0Delta connected HV winding, delta connected LV winding, no phase shift between HV and LV.Dyn11Delta connected HV winding, star connected LV winding with neutral brought out, LV is leading HV with 30°YNd5Star connected HV winding with neutral brought out, delta connected LV winding, LV lags HV with 150°

Why generally the voltage is applied to HV side?

Lower voltages are required if connected to the low voltage side. The testing facility may not have a gen set large enough to test from the high voltage side.

Why oscilloscope do not have two grounds?

Why would an oscilloscope need more than one? In general, it is best to have a single ground in many systems. If two grounds exist, current can flow in a loop between the two grounds if there is a voltage variance between them (one is grounded better than another). In HV and EHV substations, checks are performed to insure double grounding does not occur.

What is standby earth fault protection And how it is to be coordinated with transformer primary overcurrent relayin DYn11 tf?

DYn 11 is a Delta HV winding and star lv with theneutral brought out. At primary substations it is usual to have a neutral ct. The ct is a last line of defence operating a standby earth fault relay which opens the lv circuit breaker (11kV). It may have a stage 2 setting in case the lv breaker fails to open which opens the hV side. If there is no local hV breaker it may operate a fault throw switch. This device shorts one phase directly to earth forcing the protection at the remote end to operate.

Will the Elmo HV-5100XG Overhead Projector be good for a presentation?

The Elmo HV series are great for presentations and have very strong colors.

Why tappings are always provided in HV winding of power transformers?

in hv side, current will be less; so if we vary the rheostate, than thetre is less arcing with respect to lv side, so we always put the tap changer in hv side.
