Its a ground that goes to the firewall and to the left hand bolt on the alternator bracket.Mine goes from my power steering unit bolt to the bolt on the alt as explained, simple ground. The laternator itself has one plug and one power , no single ground wires.
undo the bottom bolt on the alternator and the top tension adjuster bolt. unbolt the ground wire going to it and pull the plug going to it. reverse all steps to put new alternator in.
Wires between Alternator and Battery, and between Alternator plug connector and fuse box etc.
alot of the time it is a wiring problem between the engine control module and the transmisssion plug. you can test this wire for continuity The yel/bk wire on pin 44 on the blue plug on the ecm module. Unplug the transmission plug off the side of the transmission and check from ecm module located in the airbox to the plug for continuity. i don't have the pin layout for the plug on the transmission, but by process of elimination you can figure it out. below is a wiring diagram showing the 2-3 shift solenoid. alot of the time it is a wiring problem between the engine control module and the transmisssion plug. you can test this wire for continuity The yel/bk wire on pin 44 on the blue plug on the ecm module. there should be 2 bolts on the alternator one looks slotted that is so you can adjust your tension on your belt your belt will need to be off the alternator pulley loosen and remove both bolts they have nuts on the back of the alternator so you will need a wrench to hold them then un plug the wire and loosen and remove the ground wire off the back of the alternator then installing it is just the reverse
On a Delco, an external regulated alternator has a square plug, while the internal has a rectanguler plug.
the ground plug should be up
A simple continuity test will do, check for continuity from the antenna to the plug. Not much goes wrong with these though I would look at the plug connection at the back of the stereo sometimes they are loose and come apart.
Why would you want to? should be a 3 pin plug in the back of the alternator.
It is at the rear of the alternator, in the plug that hold the wires that are incerted at the rear.
This wire allows the alternator to keep the battery charged.
Spark plug gap is where spark plug spark discharge is designed to take place. On a conventional spark plug, it is the area between the center and the ground electrode.
