I am confused with the question, but if you mean "http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_is_there_more_oxygen_taken_up_by_normal_red_blood_cells_than_spherical_cells" then i may be able to help: RBC function is greatly dependent on shape, which is why with people sickle cell anemia carry significantly less oxygen than healthy people. The shape of normal RBCs, functions to increase their surface area, for more effective gas exchange. A spherical RBC's surface area is not sufficient enough to carry the same amount of O2.
i was working out some medical entrance questions and the was kind of this same question .
it said that this was because biconcave cell have 20-30% more surface area than spherical cells. hope it helps.
PARADOX
Hemoglobin is what transports the oxygen in the red blood cells.
ways of transporting oxygen (presumably in the human body you are referring to) it is carried in the blood as part of the circulatory system-it is picked up from the lungs through alveoli -majorly carried in the blood as oxyhaemoglobin (oxygen combined with haemoglobin in red blood cells) -some can be dissolved in the blood plasma
red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs through the pulmonary artery to the heart and then to the rest of the body.
After blood releases oxygen to the cells of the body the blood becomes deoxygenized. It then travels back to the heart to get more oxygen.
the red blood cells are the most abundant and white blood is the spherical shape.
The normal red blood cells would be better because sickled red blood cells clump and are not circulated as well as normal red blood cells are.
Cannot carry normal levels of oxygen to cells :) *NovaNet*
Red blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body. The normal limits for red blood cells for men are 4.7-6.1, and women the normal values are 4.2-5.4.
it is spherical
Red blood cells (corpuscles)
red blood cells transport oxygen :)
they are spherical in shape
White blood cells fight germs and red blood cells carry oxygen.
Hypoxemia means having below normal oxygen levels in the blood.
Red blood cells contain hemoglobin. These cells are also known as erythrocytes.
yes
oxygen blood cells and non-oxygen blood cells
