There currently does not seem to be a large amount of trading exchange between the US and China in terms of Natural Resources. China currently uses US natural resources, but there is not much available for China to provide for the US.
Because of China's secrecy and the unreliability of the figures they publish, it is very difficult to tell how much bigger the GDP of the US is compared to China. Even so, experts estimate that there isn't much difference between both countries and China will have a larger GDP than the US by 2017.

China would much prefer not to have to side with either the US, a major trading partner (and debtor to China) or North Korea, an ideological ally from the Cold War era. I believe that China will do whatever it can to remain neutral in any conflict that may arise between the US and North Korea. Of course, China is not entirely predictable, and they may fool me.
