The thermostat has not opened yet.
the top part is cold because that's where the freezer is and the refrigerator is the bottom part.
The refrigerator is cold at the bottom and warm at the top because warm air rises. Cold air is heavier than warm air and settles toward the bottom of the appliance.
NO
This is going to vary wildly, depending upon ambient temperature and load conditions.
Trapped air pocket.
Look on top of the radiator and follow the hose from the radiator to the thermostat housing. Look on the bottom of the radiator and follow the hose up to bottom of the block.

Engines return hot coolant to the radiator through top hose, and cooled coolant goes back to the engine through the bottom hose, so a difference in temperature between the two would not be unusual. Assuming you have allowed the engine to come up to temperature and the bottom hose is stone cold, either the radiator or bottom hose is blocked, the water pump has failed or there is an air lock. A seized viscous coupling on a cooling fan or a permanently running electric fan can also make the radiator over-cool, but the bottom hose would feel slightly cooler than the top hose, not cold.
When the thermostat is open the coolant will flow through the top radiator hose in to the radiator and out to the water pump through the bottom radiator hose
what if my top radiator hose is very hot and the bottom hose is cold, would that be a bad water pump?
Upper is hose connected to top of radiator, lower is hose connected to bottom of radiator.
There's a top hose (the one on top) and a bottom hose. (the one on the bottom) There is no main hose.
The radiator hose which I assume you mean although you write rad, is connected to the radiator. One on the top of the radiator and one on the bottom. the one on the top
Remove the bottom radiator hose. Put a garden hose into the top of the radiator. Allow the garden hose to run until the water coming out of the bottom of the radiator is clear.
The thermostat connects to the top radiator hose on a 1996 Toyota Corolla. The bottom radiator hose connects to the water pump.
punto sx radiator drainingRadiator has two hoses. One at the top of the radiator,(The top hose) and a hose at the bottom of the radiator (The bottom hose). Wait until the engine is cool. You need to undo the expansion tank screw top (where you top up the radiator)then release the bottom hose clip (use a screw driver)which allows you to pull off the hose from the radiator expansion tank adjoining the radiator. Make sure you have a bowl underneath to catch the water.
Remove the bottom radiator hose. Stick a hose in the top of the radiator. Turn the water on. Allow the water to run through the radiator and out the bottom of the radiator.
