Why is ucsb a party school?

UCSB or ChicoI attended UCSB and graduated back in 2001. Although I never visited Chico, I heard from friends who attended that it had a pretty large social scene, like UCSB. I think many people have blown their party images out of proportion. Yes, UCSB was a fun school but I also studied hard to get my Biology degree. If you are looking for a party, you will find one at either school but you'll also get a great education that will enable you to get a good job once you graduate at UCSB.

Well, I am not exactly sure the history of the parties, but I do know this. Isla Vista is the college town adjacent to the university. It is a square mile by a square mile and holds 20,000 college kids who are living on their own for the first time with not authority(parents and guardians that it). With this, comes the fact that there are many 21 year olds and we are located right on the beach. Where else would better parties be?
