There is 2 freeze plugs between the rear of the engine and the transmission. The freeze plugs are in the back of the engine block. Do not bother the big plug that is in the center of the block, That is the cam plug NOT A FREEZE PLUG.
YOu will either have to pull the transmission are the engine to replace those 2 plugs.
If it is motor oil in the anti freeze, then it is either a cracked head, cracked engine block, or a head gasket blown. If it is transmission fluid in your antifreeze, then the radiator is leaking from the transmission cooler ----- although usually that would cause antifreeze to be in your transmission fluid.
Antifreeze helps by not allowing the coolant to freeze and possibly crack the water passages of the block.
Heater hose has a leak, freee plugs expanded in freezing weather because not enough antifreeze , engine block cracked or a blown head gasket.
Sounds like a freeze plug corroded or blew out; at worst, it might be a cracked block.
If it gets cold enough the coolant will freeze and crack the block if there is no antifreeze.
If you have coolant coming out of the exhaust. You have either a blown head gasket, a cracked head, or a cracked block. This can totally ruin your motor.
They are on the front, back, and transmission sides of the block.
Yes. The transmission from a small block must be at 351 Windsor , And C6 transmission if the transmission is a c4 . It will not work
Between the engine block and transmission. You will either have to remove the engine or transmission to get to them. NO OTHER WAY.
There is no drain on the block, just the drain on the radiator (bottom of rad drivers side, facing the transmission).ANS 2 The above is perfectly correct, but if you still wish to drain coolant fluid from that block, the easiest way is removing the lower rad hose from engine side.
There are two line up pins in the back of the engine block, 1 on each side and they fit into the transmission bell housing. They are froozn in the bell housing. You will need to drive a screewdriver between the block and bell housing alittle at a time on both sides until it comes apart. Are you sure you have all the bolts out ???
I had the same problem with my 5.9L and it was the timing chain housing leaking antifreeze. It could also be a freeze plug maybe but that is rare. Hope this helps
