Your weight is less on the moon b/c you have less gravity that pushes down on you in space--and in space there is no gravity, its a big vacuum and your mass is whats inside you.

An astronaut on the moon has the same mass as she did on earth but has less?

mass doesnt change but weight does

How would your weight and mass change if you went to the moon?

If you measured your mass and your weight and then went to the moon, you would find that your mass had not changed, and your weight had become about 83 percent less.

Why your weight would change if you went to the moon but your mass would not?

* Mass doesn't change because of conservation of mass. * Weight changes because it is the product of mass x gravity - and gravity on the Moon is less.

What are science facts about weight?

you can measure weight by a scale. weight could change from place to place like if you go to the moon you will weigh less because there is less gravitational pull on you. it basically depends on mass and mass is the amount of matter an object is made of. mass does not change so on the moon your mass does not change it's your weight that changes

Is the mass of an object more on the moon?

No. The mass of an object does not change. However and object's weight, which is a function of mass and gravity, is less on the moon than on earth.

Why is the weight of an object on earths different from its weight on the moon?

Weight = mass x gravityThe mass of the same object, taken to the Moon, will basically not change. The Moon's gravitational field, however, is less - about 1/6 that of the Earth.

Is a person's mass less on the moon?

No- their weight is less, but mass is not changed.

Does your mass change if you were to travel to the moon?

Your mass will not change, but your weight will.

Why do you weight less on the moon?

The moon has less mass than Earth so its gravitational pull is less. Your weight decreases, but you retain the same mass.

Astronauts jump easily on the moon How does this compare to his mass and weight on the earth?

The mass is the same in both cases; the weight on the Moon is less (by a factor of 6, approximately). The mass is the same in both cases; the weight on the Moon is less (by a factor of 6, approximately). The mass is the same in both cases; the weight on the Moon is less (by a factor of 6, approximately). The mass is the same in both cases; the weight on the Moon is less (by a factor of 6, approximately).

If an object has a mass of 26 g on earth would its mass be less than 26 g on the moon?

If an object has a mass of 36g on earth it will also have a mass of 26g on the moon. This is because while weight varies depending on gravity, mass is a universal constant that reflects the number of molecules in an object. It's mass would be the same (amount of matter) But it's weight would be less on the moon, yes.
