I don't know about yours, but mine did that and it was full of ants that had gotten between the connectors.
Depending on the age of your unit, it could be one of the following:
* Clogged filter - remove it and clean it. * Clogged coils - you may be able to remove debris yourself, but you may need to contact a service person to do this also * Bent and/or damaged fins - these may be straightened to some extent, but youmay need to replace the unit. * Low CF pressure - If the refrigerant is low, it will not recondense in the compressor properly. A certified service professional can recharge your system and check it for leaks. Cost for this can vary, so shop around. * Burnt compressor motor - there are two sounds your air conditioning unit will make, the fan (what moves the air) and the compressor. the compressor has a deeper, heavier sound. If this is not running, a fuse may be blown, or the motor may have quit.
Be sure the cooling fans are functioning when the ac is running.
Not if the cooling system is operating properly.
A. you are probably out of Refridgerant in your AC B. you probably have a leak in your AC compressor and lost all of your refridgerant
Yes, because your engine is on.
Engine running hot and cooling fan working to cool it down?
I'm thinking the coolant level in the reservoir is to high to begin with. The cooling system has to work harder when the ac is running. The coolant expands as it heats up. If the coolant level was high to start with it will push out the excess.
If coolant is up to proper level and cooling fans are working - should not overheat
The temperature sensor for your cooling fan may need to be changed. The temperature sensor wiring may need to be cleaned or replaced.

A 12000btu AC is considered 1 ton of cooling. 18000btu is 1.5 tons. One ton of AC will give you the cooling you would get by melting one ton of ice. EPM
Cooling fan not working, or your cooling system needs a complete service. The cooling fan should be on continuously when the A/C is on.
