Vacuum leak, is primary suspect. Bad/dirty Idle Air Control Valve. Do you get a check engine light? Get some starter fluid or Carb cleaner spray and spray the Lower/Upper Intake Gasket, if you notice a change in idle, the gasket needs to be replaced. This is especially most likely if it only idles high when the engine is cold. Check for other vacuum leaks, such as the brake booster hose. Mine mysteriously popped off one day. Carb cleaner spray is useful in finding these such leaks. There is a way to clean an Idle Air Control Valve(IAC) with carb cleaner which can cure bad Idle. If you get a check engine light, get the code, there is a method to do so if you don't have a code reader, it's called the paperclip method, look it up. Get the code, ask me or look it up.
