Try bleeding your brakes. If there is air in the system it can give a spongy feeling to your brake pedal and require you to pump your brakes and/or put your brake pedal to the floor.
try bleeding the brakes or checking the fluid
they are bled to remove air out of your brake system. bleeding prevents you from having mushy brakes or your pedal going to the floor. it also makes the pedal tight and more sensitive to your feet.
It seems like there might be air in your brake system. You should try bleeding your brakes and filling it with fresh brake fluid.
The brake pedal has nothing to do with it. If air is in the system then bleed the brakes.
If the brake pedal is soft on a 1997 Ford F-150, then there is a good chance that there is air in the brake line. This can be remedied by bleeding the brakes system.
It is the distance between floorboard and pedal top, when the brake pedal is fully depressed (after applying brakes).
looks like you need to bleed your brakes they most likely have air in them and bleeding them should fix this
Usually that would be caused by a faulty brake light switch connected TO the brake pedal. If the brakes work the pedal is probably ok.
Check around brake pedal for something rubbing. If OK, I'd look into the master cylinder.
your brake pad and shoes are shot also might have a brake line that is leaking.check your brakes front and back also look for any wet stops underneath as the brake line might have a hole in it from rusting
You will wear out the brakes prematurely and you may also overheat the brakes and experience brake fade (no or poor brakes).
