If your rat is acting the same as it always is, then it is normal. If your rat is shaking, having diarhea, biting when it doesn't usually bite, or anything else unusual, then take your rat to the vet. If it is biting more often and being more agressive, then your rat might be pregnant.
I think it is not the best idea to have it as a pet, but if you were a really crazy person who would have a snake as a pet you would keep that rat thingy. but anyway a mole rat, my answer would be NO!
