A Miracle Play
"A Ghost Story for Christmas" was created in 1971 by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as a series of standalone television movies adapted from classic ghost stories.
There are no folk tales or "yarns" passed down from one Australian generation to the next that pertain particularly to Christmas. Individual famines, of course, have their own stories to tell, but Australia does not have the folklore that much older countries have. However, there are always variations on the Christmas nativity, featuring drovers, swagmen or bushmen, and the occasional Australian native animal, and a Christmas miracle that occurs in the remote outback.

Whether or not this story is considered to be a monster story is still questionable. However, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow which tells the story of the "Headless Horseman" is a very popular classic in literature.
