1 and 2 Macabees were removed from the Protestant Bible by Martin Luther, along with 8 or so other books. Luther also wanted to remove the book of James and Revelations. The removed books are still in the Catholic Bible, and are used by some Episcopal churches as well.

These books have no place in the bible because they were inspired by man and not of the the Holy Spirit. A man's thoughts are corrupt and twisted and cannot be trusted to be used for sound doctrine. The Holy Bible however was written by men from all walks of life but they all had one thing in common, they had the inspiration from the Lord God himself. The only verses that man did not write was the Ten Commandments God's law Exodus 20:3-17.
