When people say that Congressman Paul is not electable, they say that out of ignorance of American history that has surpassed 3 weeks ago. Ron Paul predicted the 2007 economic bust in the late 1990's. He said we were going to be attacked by terrorists someday if we don't change our foreign policy soon. That was in 1998. In 2001, we were attacked on 9/11, a predictable result of, as he says, "meddling in the affairs of others". He has a well-rounded economic background and 40 years of government experience, fighting for liberty for ALL people, not who the neocons say are free and who are not.
What I'm saying is that Ron Paul has a very simpleeconomic and foreign policy. Some people mistake this for being simplistic policy, and think that having bombastic 20,000 page economic bills is sensible policy. But it is not simplistic because Ron Paul's message is that people have been able to manage their lives and solve problems for themselves for thousands of years without aid from governments of society, why is now different? He understands that almost every economic problem we are facing today is because of economic planning and government intervention in the economy that has backfired, just look at the modern healthcare system and compare it to fifty years ago, its a result of socialist keynesianism that we suffer.
"To believe in liberty is not to believe in any particular social and economic outcome. It is to trust in the spontaneous order that emerges when the state does not intervene in human volition and human cooperation. It permits people to work out their problems for themselves, build lives for themselves, take risks and accept responsibility for the results, and make their own decisions." - Ron Paul, Liberty Defined, p. 2

Yes, Ron Paul is a very nice man.
In official policy positions, he's more "moderate" a libertarian. This may be simply because he's working to be more broadly "electable". Bear in mind that in 1974 Ronald Reagan described libertarianism as being the heart of Conservatism. Rand's policies are strongly similar to Reagan's advocated positions before he ran for office.
