I don't exactly know why but I think it was because they didn't pay attention to details. They got a lot of parts of the movie wrong. Movies are supposed to be a little different from the books, but they shouldn't be that different.
Lightning Thief Book: YesLightning Thief Movie: No Real Life Mythology: Yes
The first to watch Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Lightning Thief was all the 4th, 5th, and 6th graders at St. Boniface School in Fort Smith, AR. It was a school field trip to go see the movie. It was also a Battle of the Books ( B.O.B.) book, and so they went to see it. It was on February 12, 2010.
I've read all of the books, and i have to say that the movie is different from the book. But i liked it a lot. there is action, humor, and it's a little bit scary. I would recommend this movie to anyone(:
in the book, Percy goes on an adventure to find his mother and in the end, in stead of leaving Grover, he leaves his mother.
For the books? Then yes, in fact there is a whole series, and even a second spinoff series: 1: The Lightning Thief 2: The Sea of Monsters 3: The Titan's Curse 4: The Battle of the Labyrinth 5: The Last Olympian Second Series (The Heroes of Olympus Series) 1: The Lost Hero 2: The Son of Neptune 3: The Mark of Athena (set to be released Fall 2012) As for the movie, it was rumored that a film adaptation for the Sea of Monsters was set to be released in 2013.

No one, they don't have a Clarisse in the Lightning Thief movie. Hopefully they have cast someone just not told us.
Clarisse is not in The Lightening Thief movie but in The Sea of Monsters and the rest of the movies its Bridgit Mendler from Good Luck Charlie.
No one plays Clarisse in the movie; they completely leave her out. :( Hopefully she will be in Sea of Monsters.
