brakes, lights, oil, water, battery, air & gas
First of all it does not have a carburetor. It is fuel injected. You need to check the fuel pressure with a gauge.
Bulbs burned out?
Bulbs simply burn out dumba**!
The amperage gauge will go down when you turn on your lights, because there is a sudden draw of electric power from the battery. The alternator should equal out the power surge.
Assuming not diesel. Could be your catalytic converter becoming blocked I presume that the car is ok when ticking over? It is most likely to be the fuel pump relay switch, basically the car is not getting enough petrol for you to accelerate but is just enough to tick over. Do you also have a problem with the lights coming on and the fuel gauge not registering?
