You can change the game's key configuration easily.
When you launch WolfQuest, you're always presented with a small window that asks what screen resolution you want, and whether you'd like to play in windowed mode or fullscreen. This is the configuration window.
While in this window, click the input tab, then scroll down to find the options command. By default, ESC is the options key. When you've found it, double-click and press they key you want to use for bringing up the options screen, then launch the game and test to make sure that key now functions as your pause/options button.
Enjoy. :)
