Earth's axis is tilted some 23°. The result if this is that in the more northern (and southern) latitudes, the days are much shorter in the winter season. The sunlight strikes the earth at a lower angle, so the earth radiates more heat than it receives. This reduction in temperature is sufficient to fall below the normal freezing point of water, so instead of rain the result is snow.

It's called sublimation, it's a process which lets water in the form of ice go directly to water vapour w/o having been liquid in between.

It can of course also be because time and minor temperature changes will cause the snow to become more compact.

Its snows during winter because its so cold!!! When its about to rain, because its so cold the rain freezes and turns into snow! It only snows in winter because in winter it is the coldest. Well that's the case in England anyway.

Because snow-like ice takes a lot of energy to melt.

Usually because it's not hot enough outside.

because the sun melts the snow and so the snow disappears. you see, the sun puts off radiant energy and radiant energy is heat energy. heat energy gets sooo hot, that the snow melts
