a short term disruption last for a few days or weeks and isnt that bad, a long term disruption has more serious factors and last long and can even kill you if not treated, thing such as type 1 diabetes type 2, etc. are long term disruption, their more damaging than a short term disruption

At high humidity you can get condensation which can short circuit things and corrode components.
We often find a saw used to cut bolts. Rivets might be cut if we can get the saw on the body, but we often have to drill them out. A sidewinder grinder will make short work of them if you can get it on the body of the fastener.
