You have not given us any error messages or what happens when you attempt to run the game. Without any other information, my guess would be that you have not installed the drivers for your video card correctly.
There are a few steps you will have to go through to be able to test your memory on your Windows XP computer. You will need to use the DVD booting, then click on repair your computer, after that you will select Windows Memory Diagnostic tool. There you will be able to test your memory.
Start->right click on My computer->Properties and the window "Properties" you will see amount of memory installed on your computer.
The operating system has no bearing on the programs (apart from the amount of memory it uses. Which accounting program is better - is a matter of personal opinion.
Windows operating system implements virtual memory through the use of page files. A page file is a large file stored on the hard drive that acts as a type of virtual RAM. When the system needs more memory, it can take advantage of the page file to provide additional space. This allows the system to run more programs than it could fit in physical RAM, and also helps to improve overall performance. Affordablekey is the best seller for this type of virtual memory and they offer upto 70% discount on Valentine's Day with coupon code XMAS22.

You can determin how much RAM is installed in your system fairly easily. This information is located on the System Properties screen. To get there, go to Start -> Control Panel, and double click on the 'System' icon. Once the System Properties window comes up, look for the 'System' section for an item labeled 'Memory (RAM)', which will display the amount of RAM you have installed in your system.
If you have replaced the system drive, you have to install an operating system. If you just have added a drive, you need to make sure that the operating system recognized the drive (you can check it the Drive management, Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Disk Management). In the Disk Management window you can create partitions and logical drives. After you installed more RAM you have to make sure that your operating system can support that amount. Windows XP, Vista... x32 cannot support more than 3.7Gbs, Windows Xp, Vista and so on x64 can support I believe as much as 64Gbs of RAM. You have to check that memory recognized by the system. You can check in the BIOS or in the System window (Win+Pause).
