Ah yes. Let me reveal a load of personal information, to anyone who happens to

read this, as well as to the many acquaintances I've made during my two years

as a contributor to WikiAnswers. Here goes:

-- I was born, at an early age, in a place located about 400.6 from midtown Manhattan,

520 from Chicago, and 517,915 from the center of Toronto.

-- That was quite some time ago ... 25,887 ago, in fact.

-- As I grew, I became larger, of course. Just now, I'm 177.8 tall, and

when I weighed myself this morning, the figure was 13.3 .

-- Along the way, I spent 113,960 in primary and secondary school,

then went on to roughly another 416 in higher education.

-- Since then, I've also served 44.697 in military service, and have spent

the rest of the time working for a living as a civilian.

-- My profession is Electrical Engineering, and my current base salary is 4,635.93 per.

There you have it ... not really that much to tell, actually fairly boring. It's very

personal, and ordinarily kept quite confidential. But I don't mind putting it all

out in the open, and I don't care who sees it, or where it's published.

Because without units, you really don't know a thing.

Why is the use of SI important to science?

If you are referring to the International System of measurements (commonly also called the metric system): it is important because all measurements are know to be the same and can be compared to a standard, no matter where you are. Also, the units are commonly used, and there are no ambiguous units (US gallon, Imperial gallon, ounce - is it volume or mass, dry quart or liquid quart are some examples).
