..and I shift to 2nd it turns off.Sounds like the exhaust system. Do You have a cracked or clogged cat-converter or Muffler? If so, replace both of them AND a new oxygen sensor. If its not the exhaust system, try putting a quart or two of oil in. Hondas have a safety feature: engine shuts down if no OIL is in the car! Good Luck!

you probably have a problem with the hyper exhaust battery reacting with the chemicals in the external manifold drive

If the Car is taking on the smell of gasonline while on and running it usually means that the car has an exhaust leak. more than likely around the headers. I would have the exhaust system checked out.
