Most people do it for sport, and some catch them for food. Some people put their fins in to a soup called shark fin soup. Other people catch them and keep the jaws for show, or trophy. I think it is a horrible sport. But that is just my opinion.

∙ 12y agoWell people are killing more then 73 million sharks each year for their fins so it makes sense they want to attack us. Also they might mistake you for a animal if you lay down on a surfboard and swim while on it

There is a great demand for shark fins and thousands of shark are being caught having their fins cut of and then just dumped back in the sea to die. There is also a demand for some shark meat, not to mention sharks getting caught up in the netting intended for other types of fish. some sharks are also hunted for sport.
