they have to reach the high leaves
No, giraffes are all long necked. If an animal has a short neck, it is a different species of animal.
giraffes have sex all the time through the bum hole... with their necks. that is their movement..
Lamarck would have said that the ancestors of modern-day giraffes had short necks but stretched their necks as they tried to reach leaves in trees; so, their descendants were born with longer necks. Darwin would have said that in a population of ancestral giraffes, some had slightly longer necks than others; the long-necked giraffes were better able to feed on tree leaves and as a result produced more offspring. Over time, the proportion of longnecked giraffes in the population increased.
A long neck that enables it to reach fruit and leaves at the top of trees. This adaptation happened because the giraffes with the longer necks survived when the shorter necked giraffes couldn't. The shorter necked giraffes did not have enough food to eat, as it was all unreachable in the trees. Thus the longer necked giraffes who survived mated with other long necked giraffes and produced more long necked giraffes!
One very famous example is that giraffes stretched their necks all their lives to reach leaves that are very high on trees, and when they produced offspring, they passed the long necks down to them.
Chuck Norris kicked a spotted horse in the neck and its neck grew like a giraffe's.Its offspring had a long neck too.
Answer The short answer is that one way or another, having a long neck became an advantage for survival. Beyond that, opinions differ. The old theory stated that the long necks allowed giraffes to eat leaves out of reach from other animals. Less competition about food can be a survival advantage. As explanations goes, this has some weaknesses. There are plenty of other animals living alongside giraffes that seems to be doing just fine w/o reaching that high. A newer theory is that it's more about breeding rights. Male giraffes fight by standing close to each other and swing their heads into each other. Here, a longer neck is a definite fighting advantage, and you get the elevated grazing as a side effect. Answer So it can reach the trees and vegetation that in the giraffe's native home is usually growing taller to allow for air movement underneath the plant to help with the temp. Answer Giraffes have a long neck as there is much competition for food and by having long necks, they can reach higher branches that other animals cannot get to. Answer Long necks are an evolutionary change which has happened to giraffes over a long period of time. They have long necks is because giraffes love green juicy leaves but the juicy leaves are at the very top where none of the other animals can reach. The giraffes have to reach to the top to get the juicy leaves that is why their long necks help them eat.
it helps them because i sexy and i know it i can make u say blue what color are roses and then u said red haha made u say it then you will say no u didnt u made me say red not blue then i will haha made u say blue

There are many other animals in the African plains that like to eat the same plants as giraffes. Because of this they need a long neck so when the other animals eat the leaves closer to the ground(as high as they can reach), there will be plenty of leaves , up high, for the giraffes to eat.
Giraffes are related to horses. They have very long necks to reach the leaves they eat. Their bodies are covered with large brown spots. Giraffes have long black tounges to help them gather leaves from the branches. They are usually found in the Sahara deserts. On their heads are two (or rarely more) little stumps used to attack predators. When giraffes get a drink of water, they have to spread their legs out long and bend their necks all they way down (at this time when they get drinks, they are open for attack for any predators because it takes a little while for giraffes to get back up properly.).A giraffe is a mammal with a long neck, and is found on the Savanna of Africa. It eats the leaves of the acacia tree.
Through evolution. The whole theory of evolution was first based on the giraffe's neck. Darwin say the giraffe, and asked himself the same you just asked me. He realized that all of the food that the giraffe ate came from high up in the trees. So from that observation, he inferred that the giraffes needed long necks to survive. I repeat: They NEED long necks to survive. That is the whole theory of evolution. Let us pretend it is a long time ago, and at this time giraffes have short necks. This is a problem, as the food on the ground is running out and they need a way to reach the food in the trees to survive. Out of the whole herd of giraffe, though, two of them (lets call them Gina and Patrick) were somehow born with slightly longer necks. As Gina and Patrick were the only ones in the herd who could reach the food, the rest of the giraffes died and they survived. They mated, and Gina gave birth to Donna, Hugh, and Theodore. Once Donna, Hugh, and Theodore grow up, their parents die. Hugh and Patrick and Donna all have inherited their parents genes for long necks, so they are as tall as them--except Hugh, because he is taller. Donna and Theodore can reach their food, but as the best and ripest food is at the very top of the tree, only Hugh can reach that. So Hugh grows big and strong, AND he has an EXTRA tall neck, so the females are attracted to him. So HE is the one who gets a mate, and passes on his tall-neck genes onto his children. Get it? --Answerguy555Giraffes got their long necks by natural selection. Because their food was high in the trees, natural selection lengthened the neck of the giraffe. A giraffe's long neck contains only seven vertebrae, like a human's neck. Giraffes not only use their necks to stretch high into the trees, they also use them to graze on the ground. Males often use their necks to fight one another during the mating season when there's a female to defend. No wonder why giraffes have long necks.a giraffe has to have a long neck because of what it eats. it eats leaves! the leaves are on the tree so it needs a long neck to get the leaves because it can not climb the tree.
