The word "Islam" literally means "submission to God". Muslims believe that by following the Koran (their holy book given to them by God through the Prophet Muhammed) and behaving well, they will be accepted into Paradise after they die. Good deeds, observing the Koran and behaving in accordance to these things will heighten a Muslim's chances of entering eternal Paradise after they die. For a Muslim, behaving properly includes: abstinence from non-medicinal mind altering drugs, alcohol and pork, donating to charity, pilgrimage, prayer five times a day, fidelity, acceptance of God and fasting during Ramadan.
