Vegetarianism is said to be less wasteful, less polluting, in that meat production envolves a great deal of vegetation/grain to produce a pound of meat, also there is the fact that animals such as cattle produce great quantities of methane a greenhouse gas through flatulence and through fermentation of their waste. It is said that much more of the worlds population could be fed were we all to be vegetarians. I think that would be just a stop gap measure, humanity still does not wish to deal with the problem of over population and apparently is going to leave it to nature to deal with through starvation and wars over Natural Resources--so much for man's higher consciousness. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetarianism
Technically they can't eat anything that has eyes because they would turn to stone and that would be really hard to eat, even for them. So they must be vegetarians...
What exactly is meant by "human" terms? That everything is personified, or that the story is always told in the human perspective? If you mean human terms as in words or ideas that are human, I must say that it is because as far as the concept of story telling has been developed, it has been shown that only humans can appreciate a story and show that appreciation. That is to say, only humans can understand a story told to them, insofar as it is humans who have invented stories.
Lacto-ovo vegetarians are vegetarians who eat eggs and egg products and milk and milk products. They are not vegans, who eat neither. On the other hand, virtually all vegetarians refuse to eat products that would be considered most cruelly produced. If an animal must be killed to produce an item [from a lamb chop to the gelatin that goes into marshmallows, say] a lacto-ovo vegetarian will not eat it.
A person who is classified as a traditional "vegetarian" usually eats milk and egg products, but not meat. This describes most vegetarians. However, there are vegetarians known as "ovo-vegetarians" who do not drink milk but eat egg products.Vegans, however, are vegetarians who eat absolutely no animal products, including meat, milk, and eggs. This variety will not drink milk.

Business ecology is a metaphor that suggests businesses exist in an environment where it must co-exist with and evolve with other businesses. This means a company needs to meet the challenges and develop mutually beneficial relationships with their customers, employees, suppliers and even their competitors.
