You make assumptions to try to solve problems that you're mind has set forth for you. The first assumption you have may be wrong, but it satisfies the mind, and that is the problem with making assumptions.

It's by definition. An inference is a conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning (logic). If your conclusion was not based on logic, it wasn't an inference, it was a guess.

The reason someone makes an inference is to state a conclusion. The conclusion used when using an inference is based on evidence and reasoning rather than thoughts and hypothesis.

How do personal assumptions affect Critical Thinking?

Personal assumptions can hinder critical thinking by leading individuals to only accept information that aligns with their preconceived beliefs, thus limiting their ability to evaluate evidence objectively. These assumptions can also create biases that skew reasoning and prevent individuals from considering alternative perspectives or solutions. To enhance critical thinking, it is important to acknowledge and challenge personal assumptions through open-mindedness and a willingness to reevaluate one's beliefs in light of new information.
