Just as astronomy mapped the solar system and universe, chemistry actually has already become the "astronomy of the molecular world." Scientists used macroscopic manipulation of chemicals in the laboratory to learn about and understand the microscopic world of the atom and molecule in the nineteenth century. This knowledge has and must be expanded as the molecular "world" is mapped and manipulated.
