Why my BMW 318i 2001 model lost power?

There could be many causes for this , The best places to start would be checking the following parts and replacing them if necessary :

1. Check Spark Plugs (Old/ Fouled plugs will cause bad performance).

2. Check Ht Leads For damage/ wear.

3. Check Air filter ( Dirty/ clogged up air filters will reduce airflow into the intake resulting in loss of power).

4. Replace fuel filter ( For a couple of £s, This can make a big difference)

5. Check intake pipes and vacuum pipes for signs of wear (Cracked/ or split pipes is a very common cause of power loss)

If you see no problems with any of the above i advise getting a Diagnostics check done, This will show any error codes stored in the cars ECU (Electronic control unit), The problem could be down to faulty sensors (IE. o2 sensors, Maf sensors etc).
