White smoke at start up is due to moisture in the exhaust or on a diesel it can be normal due to the engine being cold.White smoke at start up is due to moisture in the exhaust or on a diesel it can be normal due to the engine being cold.

Jump on, start engine,
if its mild smoke that means the engine warming up if it big cloud of smoke then its the engine block is no good..happened to mee too so i did a swap
Usually white smoke is the result of a cold engine. After the engine warms up, the white smoke should disappear. Faulty injector spray patterns are another common problem.
This is not that uncommon. Some oil is so hot that it will start to smoke. The smoke can escape through this opening to the engine.
If white smoke is coming out of the exhaust when the engine is warmed up , it sounds like engine coolant is getting into an engine cylinder
some leaks only happen when the engine heats up and builds pressure. some of the newer oils don't smoke as much as the older ones. you might only get a poof of smoke at start up. Did you mix sythetic with regular oil that's bad. When it's running & hot check for small leaks. But those little Honda's are just breaking in at 100,000 the run forever.Keep checking.don't over fill it. Good luck.
Hi there, blue smoke on a diesel motor is normally fuel, and the smell will be unburn diesel, rough start and heavy smoke that will disapear as the engine getshot.
corsa 1.5 diesel lumpy at start up with white smoke from exhaust returning to normal after a couple of minuets
It's burning oil, does this happen when you first start it or does it do it all the time ? if only when you first start it, you could have bad valve guide seals and then they need to be replaced, if it does it all the time the engine is running it may be time to rebuild the engine.
You probably have a little oil seeping into the combustion chamber while the engine is off. Once you start the engine, this oil is burned and causes the smoke you see.
