Don't feel bad. It's not about you, it's all about him. Adolescence is a very challenging time, and there are so many factors at work that it is amazing that so many of us survive it. So, I suggest that you look at this as one of mother-nature's quirks.
Another way to look at is: You are so pretty and smart that he was so intimidated that he just lost all ability to control himself and had to go hide in his cave from feelings of inadequacy. He will never admit to this, but I can tell you that it happened to me a few times when I started dating. I once asked a girl out and then got so nervous that I couldn't get myself to go through with it.
- My personal experience is if a guy doesn't show up on the first date. Like ditches you that is a lack of character. Often times the guy isn't very worthwhile to invest a relationship into in the first place. So he really just saved you some time. But it is always a let down right after the date, I understand.
