There is caustic stress corrosion cracking when carbon steel is exposed to concentrated caustic solution. Caustic SCC is driven by tensile stress, susceptible material and concentration of caustic. So, lack of PWHT will increase susceptibility also hardness and residual stress that is the more significant factor in caustic corrosion.

What is p11 and p22 material?

P-11 is a piping material usually used in refinery and petrochemicals industries for services at or around 550 to 600 degree C temp. It is low alloy steel. It contains 1.25 cr and 0.5moly.It resitant to hydrogen attack. It need PWHT(post weld heat treatment). PWHT to be in the range of 680 to 780 degree C. P-22 is a piping material usually used in refinery and petrochemicals industries for services at or around 550 to 625 degree C temp. It is low alloy steel. It contains 2.25 cr and 1.moly.It resitant to hydrogen attack. It need PWHT(post weld heat treatment). PWHT to be in the range of 680 to 780 degree C.

What is full form PWHT in construction?

pipe weld heat treat

What is full form PWHT in construction welding?

Post weld heat treatment

Does the PWHT required for the cs to ss joint?

Also I need the answer for this question. Nobody? anybody?

What is difference in post weld heat treatment and stress relieving?

PWHT is a form of stress relief, other forms can be as simple as smacking your structural weld with a hammer. PWHT re-aligns metallic molicules (face centered) to similar configurations as before rapid heating and cooling occured.

Can you Welding after pwht for P91 material?

No.You should not do that because the welding heat leads to over tempering of P91 which reduces the toughness and ductility...

What is buttering process in metal fabrication?

Buttering is the process of applying a layer of weld metal to a base material before performing the final weld. It helps to improve the bond between the base metal and the final weld metal, ensuring better strength, corrosion resistance, and overall quality of the weld joint. Buttering is commonly used in metal fabrication to prevent issues like cracking and to ensure a more uniform weld.

Difference between post heating and pwht?

post heating : after completion of weld is not cool below to preheat or room temp. further it is heat by applying addition heating system to certain period of time and temperature to evalute hydrogen from weld metal.
