Generally it is because the sender has written so much that it has spanned over more than one text message. In this case, the first text message has been received properly, but the second hasn't - therefore showing up with "some text missing". Sometimes if you wait, the rest will come through. Other times I have found I have to ask the sender what the rest of the text message was.
